Good people exist :)

Today I was on the bus, just looking out the window and I saw a girl walking across the street, then she stopped and walked back one step, stopped and picked up a piece of garbage laying on the ground and walked a few extra steps to put it in the trashcan. I thought to myself "WOW!". I've never seen that happen before. And the piece of plastic or whatever it was, was not dropped by the girl or anything. She just picked it up and put it where it should have been in the first place.

So yeah, I was a little stunned and touched by this random action I saw today and it made me realize there is still hope for our future on this planet :) lol.

In addition, I proudly want to present my awesome slippers that my awesome neighbor got for me ! Love funny things like these :P

And my awesome Polish sheep calendar that I got from my lovely Auntie Iza :) The sheep in the calendar make me smile every day !

This one says "When I'm with you, I can feel the wildness of my heart!" lol ! Supercute :)

Have an awesome rest of the week everyone :) Remember, good people exist, I've seen proof. Now it's just up to ourselves to choose if we want to be one of them :)

And of course: A song of the day! "Rural Area ft. Big Beast - Call me"
A nice, relaxed feel-good melody :) Enjoy !

Peace out!

Earth Hour :)

It's quite cosy to put out candles everywhere, because if there is something that's a fact with me it's that I love to buy nice candles and such things, but I seldom really light many candles.. Around Xmas, sure, but on just a regular evening or so... Not that often.. I would say almost never. I think it's also because now when I don't have that much space in my apartment, the candles become more difficult as it needs to be safe when you light candles, and with stuff everywhere, I guess the risk of a fire breaking out is bigger. So I'll have to wait and see if I will light more candles more often when I live in a bigger place.

Maybe I'm not doing the ideal thing when it comes to Earth Hour, because I'm not gonna switch off my laptop or internet. Sure, I'll take out the charger from the laptop and let it go on battery for an hour and I'll switch off all the lights and the heating (the candles will make it hot anyway) but not my laptop. I read an article about nice things to do during Earth Hour such as spending time with your loved one (Theo is working), meditate (not gonna happen), take a nice long bath (no bathtub), take a walk and gaze at the stars (uhm, how about no) or have a candlelit dinner (8.30 pm is too late for dinner IMO).. So that doesn't leave many options open for me, so the laptop stays :P

Earth Hour has become a pretty big event, and I think it's cool to participate. One activity that lots and lots of people on earth are doing. Really cool ! And whether you think it's nonsense or not, you should do it if you like to live on this planet. We (humans) have not been the nicest to our Mother Earth and Earth Hour is a gesture of our good will to be nice to our dear planet :)

Here's the song of the day:

Galante El Emperador Ft. Pipe Calderon - Como Olvidaste

Enjoy ! I totally love it ! :D

Spring and sunshine yaaay :D

Spring is all over the place ! Flowers are popping out with the speed of light almost :D I like that. Good times are beginning!

After spring comes summer, which means that I in these times (late-March-ish) need to start thinking about getting into a good shape ! :) --> Meaning healthy week is here lol

The best trick to avoid eating crap is not to have any at home. I've filled up with carrots, avocados and nuts for snacks and lots of salad ingredients, fruits and fresh smoothies.

I had another fun weekend with my baby :) We always have fun together, no matter where we are :) This time we stayed in our first hotel which we bought for cheap at the household convention a few weeks ago.

We ate a big Suriname take-away dinner on the train :D Yummie !

The hotel was very nice and the day after we spent some time in the Deltapark called Neeltje Jans, which is located close to where the hotel was, Middelburg. It was very interesting and the weather was superb ! :D

New good memories :)

Been a little while now, school has been taking up a lot of my time and so the blogging suffers.

My friend Josefin came to visit me over the weekend and it was three very intense days filled with a lot of stuff, but mostly good times and many laughs! Shortly, it was so much fun ! We did things like sightseeing in The Hague and in Amsterdam and drank a lot of beer and ate a lot of good food :)

The most random thing ever happened when we were in the city centre of Amsterdam. Walking on the sidewalk next to a tramstop, Josefin all of a sudden screams "Cow!" and I turn around only to find a man with a huge black and white cow on a leash approaching me like 2 meters away and I manage to just get out of the way!! Otherwise the cow would have totally stepped all over me lol! So our first thought was "WTF??". But yeah, it's Amsterdam, anything can happen and there probably endless possible answers to my questions:

"What is a cow doing in the middle of Amsterdam?

How did the cow get from its field to the city centre?

Where has it been and where is it going to???"

LOL!

But it's no secret, I love random things, without them life would be predictable and boring. So I always welcome random funny things!

10 things about me :)

I think it's fun to read random things about friends and other people as well, so I got inspired and figured I might as well contribute a little :P Here it goes.

1. I used to be a perfume-addict sort of. A few years ago, I got allergic to perfumes and I have been sadly forced to adapt and start using boring products without perfume instead, and my precious bottles of perfume are becoming dustier and dustier..... Even though I can't help myself from nice smelling things such as my Herbal Essences hair products or my heavenly smelling washing softener liquid from Silan.

2. I always wake up at least 2 hours before I have to leave the house. I love to take it easy in the morning with a warm and refreshing shower, watching the news, checking my stuff on the internet, eating a nice breakfast and have plenty of time to get ready and walk slowly to wherever I'm going. I really hate a stressy start of the day, then I will be in a bad mood for the whole day.

3. I'm absolutely deadly scared of insects, any kind. In the summertime, I always take a seat at the dinner table so that I can quickly escape if an unwelcome guest flies near me... (lol) And my electric insect racket is my best friend in the house.

4. I always try to stay neutral and see things from different perspectives, because if there is something that I've learnt it's that people of different cultures and backgrounds may view one particular thing from 2 completely opposite standing points.. So I always do my best to be aware of what I'm saying or doing, and also listen and try to understand people's point of view.

5. I'm really not interested in fashion. I simply like nice clothes, and if I see something I like, I'll get it. If there is nothing of my taste in the store, I'm going home empty-handed (or with home-decoration stuff or a plant instead, that's just me)

6. I like to wear different earrings every day and I often try on different pairs before making up my mind! It also happens that I change earrings throughout the day, I'd rather do that than walk around completely without any.

7. From when I was 13, I've spent countless hours at a computer and I'm quite handy when it comes to finding what I want on the internet and fixing up my computer with handy programs and settings. I don't know what ads or popups are and it really surprises me how many ads there are everywhere when I log onto other computers and what surprises me even more is that people just get along with them. Puh.

8. I've really inherited one of my grandmother's "green" hands (she was a florist) because I really love plants and flowers and it's a great hobby of mine to grow different plants. They are green, they are cute, they are alive and they grow. I find is really fascinating!

9. When I was younger, I had problems with ingrowing toenails and therefore I cannot wear shoes that press on my toes, not even the tiniest bit. Therefore, I hate buying shoes (I only like to buy open-toe summer shoes) and I avoid shoe-shopping if I can. I cannot and will never be able to wear girly shoes such as pumps. So I'm the happiest when I can wear open-toe summer shoes with colorful toenails!

 10. My mp3 player is almost 10 years old, believe it or not. Got it for Christmas in 2001, 256 mb and the brand is "Jens of Sweden". It loads its internal battery via USB, holds about 30 - 40 songs, which is perfect for me because I never listen to more songs than that at a time anyway. It works perfectly, I use it almost every day. I never took part in the "pay a crazy amount of money for a design mp3 player" hype (the Ipod). I'm very happy with mine!

Chinese lemon chicken & English scones! :D

The weekend has been very creative! :D Started off with cleaning the house on Friday and baked a nice blueberry cake before my baby came in the evening :) My whole life, we always cleaned the house every Friday afternoon so there is really something special about a fresh and clean Friday afternoon, knowing that the weekend is coming up next !

I filled a part of my "favorite thingy" with green water this time to match my Devil's Ivy and get that fresh spring feeling going !! :D

Saturday held changed plans and the Heineken Experience will have to wait a few more weeks ! We went to the city centre to the Asian supermarket and let our minds be inspired for what to cook for dinner. Theo made nice noodles with roasted pork, Surinam style with fried "banana" (or plantain), really nice !

In the evening we were drinking Cuba Libre drinks and staying up all night chilling ! :) Love to chill  and have fun with Theo, he makes me laugh and smile the whole time!

Sunday I made some English scones with raisins for breakfast (or maybe it's called brunch if you eat your first meal at 1.30 pm lol). Scones are always an awesomely fantastic start of a day !

Then we cooked Chinese lemon chicken ! Recipe which I found on the internet and it was really fun to make and turned out absolutely delicious! The recipe can be found here. Deepfried chicken, delicious Basmati rice (this time I bought genuine, high quality Basmati at the Asian supermarket! :D) And the lemon sauce !

Really awesome food, and Theo and I predict that this dish is going to be made many more times in our future! :P

I had a nice weekend ! :D I recommend the chicken recipe for the ones of you who are curious about it ! :D It was also easy to make!

Is that a turtle, is that a plane ??? :P

So this may sound a little strange, but shopping when you are tipsy is not a good idea :P Being a Hotelschool student, I guess it is a quite experience :P Every Thursday, there is a bar open at school from 5 PM to around 8 PM... So if you have a beer or five, you will be a little tipsy at around 7 PM lol. So that's what happened to me :P

Then I needed to go to the city centre to buy a few things, BUT now the difference if you are tipsy is that you start spacing away and buy unnecessary crap that you absolutely don't need.. That's what happened to me, as I was walking through Xenos (with the intention of only buying some salad dressings and some spices) many things really appeared very attractive and it seemed like a brilliant idea to just go for it and buy them at the time :P

So I bought some crap, then after getting home and my mind becoming a little bit more clear, I remembered one purchase in particular as I'm on the phone with Theo and I bust out in a laugh as I try to explain what it is that I've bought. It went a little something like:

"It's a violet, jelly doplhin that smells nice that you can put on the bathroom wall..... No wait, they are not dolphins, they are, SHIT what do you call these things again..... oh yeah ! TURTLES ! They are TURTLES !" And I laugh a lot about my silly purchase, that just seemed so brilliant at the store.

I hang up the phone, walk to the computer and as I walk past my table where the thing lies, I see that they are not turtles after all, they are lizards! LOL!

So now I have these violet lizards that smell like lavander ! Lmao!

But oh well, my motto in life is that "you live and you learn". So the lesson for me is that now I know that it's not a good idea to go shopping when you're a little bit tipsy! ;) And the lizards will be a reminder for me!

Have a lovely weekend everyone :)

"To make people happy" :)

I'm definitely a fan of Disney's vision "To make people happy" :) It's brilliant ! And they sure do put a lot of smiles on people's faces :) And Disney, let me tell you, you have succeeded, you make me happy!

Just watched the latest Disney/Pixar animated movie "Tangled" and it sure made me laugh out loud plenty of times! I really recommend it, to people of all ages ;) Say whatever you want about Disney, but I'm sure that if you start watching, sooner or later one of the characters is going to make you smile!

I've begun one of my healthy (read: relatively healthy) weeks and that means some salads for dinner and a lot of fruits! :) Today's creation consists of 2 different kinds of salad leaves, sundried tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, chicken, feta cheese, black beans, pine nuts and honey/mustard/olive oil dressing :) Simple, tasty and a healthier alternative for dinner!

I hope the weather will become warmer soon so that I can start biking to school. I'm picky, and I'm not going to bike for 20 minutes to school if it's cold! Luckily, Holland has a warmer climate than in Sweden and there are already spring flowers blooming everywhere ! While that phenomenon still is going to take a while to occur back home in dear Sweden :P (Muahaha)

And finally, some positive loving reggae vibes to complete this sunny and beautiful day :)
Can this be, that I finally found the one that really really completes me, can this be, so fortunate for me to find a love that's true. If it's one thing that I know and that is I love you...
My day starts and ends with you 'cause baby I love you, oh I do :) You make me 'appy, yeah, so very 'appy, I cyan't complain about the love you have fi me!
Mi haffi give thanks for you every day!

March is gonna be awesome!! :D

There are always many reasons to be happy, but this month brings something a little extra for me !!

I'm really excited and I'm totally looking forward to:
5th of March: I'm taking Theo with me to the Heineken Experience! :D He got this as a gift from me and I hope we will have a fun day full of Heineken beer ! Here we will get to produce our own bottles of Heineken ! :D

11th-14th of March: My good old friend Josefin that studies in England comes to visit meee ! Finally :)
We used to be in the same class in school for 3 years, and I think it is impossible to estimate how many laughs we shared during those years :P Among other brilliant things which we did in those years, we composed a book (only during class) containing all kinds of funny stuff that was going through our minds at the time! So we are going to explore Amsterdam and The Hague and have lots of fun ! :D Look at us, back in the days :P We used to look so young and funny !

18th of March: My precious baby and I are going to the south of Holland, to Middelburg, to stay in our first hotel out of the ones we bought for REALLY cheap at the auction a few weeks back. Hotel stay with breakfast for 2 people for €15. And did I mention it's a 4 **** hotel! :D

26th of March: Theo is going to throw an after-party for his friends whom he was on wintersport vacation with! He is going to rent a place and I am going to bake some cake (upon request! Hihi! The last few times, my cakes were very popular so I'm very happy to bake some more!) And it is going to be an amazingly fun party ! Theo has really nice friends and the parties are always crazy fun !

These are only a few things, because of course there will be more fun things ! But in general, I'm very happy that there are so many nice things to experience with so many nice people ! :D

 So, cheers to March!
